Michael LoCicero What's happening to me? I thought that the piano wasn't my instrument of choice. This collaboration of fine musicians seem to gel extremely well. A RAINY DAY album for sure. Most enjoyable from start to end. This is a 10 STAR album if there ever was one..

In.Visible.Generator This is a immersive and strong piece of music.

Beautiful, from the beginning to the end. An exceptional jewel. The theme is perfectly implemented and it sounds so unique and different than others of the genre. Favorite track: Cold Light of Day.

Dotflac The ambient and modern classical features meet crackling textures and faded atmospheres to craft an album depicting the endless winter of 1816.

The Frozen Vaults paints with strings, piano and field recordings a highly cinematic release, offering an aural archive documentary of washed-out sepia tones. Viewers at first, we will gradually embody the people and the landscapes represented in these old pieces of scratched reels, through attentive listening sessions.

A delightful time travel. Favorite track: Stilled.

about

VXVCD006

1816 is the debut album from modern classical collective The Frozen Vaults. It is thematically based around the year 1816, which recorded one of the coldest years the world has ever seen. At the time, little was known as to why this phenomenally cold year was upon them, which soon become known in history as 'the year with no summer' and 'eighteen hundred froze to death'.

Eventually through extensive scientific research, it was discovered
that the exceptional cold was more than likely attributed to a violent
volcanic eruption by Mount Tambora in the year prior. In recent years
we have seen that particularly bad eruptions have had a similar
effect, yet rarely to the extent recorded in 1816.

There has been much written in history to testify the extreme hardship
that the cold brought to the world that year. Here in their tributary
album '1816', The Frozen Vaults bring to our ears a glimpse of the
perishing chills that so many were subjected to over the course of the
year.
